Support to PMC in construction of 16,000 Individual Toilets to make Pune City Open Defecation Free city

Under Clean India – Swachha Bharat Abhiyan – Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was given target to construct around 16,000 individual toilets in the Slum Areas spread across the City.  PMC appealed CREDAI-Pune to help and gear up the activity of construction of toilets.

Responding to the appeal made by Hon’ble Commissioner of PMC, Mr. Kunal Kumar (IAS), our President called meeting of the volunteer members, who will monitor the activity of construction of toilet. 13 members of CREDAI-Pune came forward. In order to monitor the progress, Steering Committee of 4 Senior Members was formed.

13 Volunteer Members through their contractors, completed the construction work of 16,000 toilets in the slum areas before 31.12.2016

Our Members also volunteered for cleaning and beautification of Public toilets – 42 Public Toilets were cleaned and painted with Social Message. The Photographs are attached herewith.

Quality Council of India is the third party, who visited, inspected 17 places across the Pune City during 17 and 18th January, 2017, the team found all 17 places open defecation free, and  based on their inspection Quality Council of India certified that Pune City can be declared as Open Defecation Free City. Scan copy of the Certificate issued by Quality Council of India is attached herewith.

The Impact of the CSR Activity is in the interest of Pune City and in the benefit of its citizens. This is the first step towards Smart Pune City. We are proud to become instrumental in getting Pune City ODF certified.
